One of the 11 suspected pirates, all of whom are Somali nationals, is escorted by a masked French marines to be handed over to Kenyan authorities on April 22, 2009 on board the French frigate 'Nivose' after it berthed at the Kenyan port of Mombasa. The Nivose, serving in the European Union's anti-piracy naval mission Atalanta, docked in Mombasa early today, a week after capturing the suspects during a chase in the Indian Ocean. The 11 were handed over to the Kenyan authorities and are expected to be charged in court on April 23 for attempting to attack the merchant ship Safmarine Asia, said Mombasa police official Benjamin Rotich.
