In 1985, a portable mobile phone, called 'Shoulder Phone' was introduced for the first time in Japan. As an advanced model of car phone developed by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, the 3kg phone was able to eject out of vehicle and sling over one's shoulder for the portable use.
