The Temple of the Cross Complex is a complex of temples at the Maya site of Palenque in the state of Chiapas in Mexico. The Temple of the Cross complex was built by Kan-Bahlum who reigned between 684 AD and 702 AD. Kinich Kan Bahlam II also known as Chan Bahlum II, ( May, 635 - February, 702 ) was ajaw of the Maya city-state of Palenque. He acceded to the throne in January, 684, several months after the death of his father and predecessor, Kinich Janaab Pakal I and ruled until his death King Chan Bahlum II the Classic period ruler of Palenque depicted on scuplture panel on the west side of the doorway of the Temple of the Cross. ( Stele 175 ) 'inich Kan B'alam II wears an elaborate costume that includes a skeletalized bird backrack. He holds a Quadripartite Badge, personified perforator, in his right hand.
