TO GO WITH AFP STORY US-ART-ENVIRONMENT Broken beer bottles sit in a cage after participants took part in "Glassphemy!", a project from artist and developer David Belt, on May 20, 2010, in Brooklyn, New York. Glassphemy!, is billed as a psychological recycling experiment, in which people stand on a high and a low platform set on each end of a 20-foot-by-30-foot clear box, with high walls made of steel and bulletproof glass. Those on the higher platform take empty glass bottles and throw them at their compatriots across the way protected by a bulletproof glass. The bottles smash at the tempo of artfully designed lights flash. The idea is to make recycling a more direct, visceral experience and to purge some of New York aggression simultaneously.
