GERMANY-CRIME-COOKIE MONSTER
Bahlsen CEO Werner Michael Bahlsen stands on a table displaying Leibniz cookies at the company's headquarters in Hanover, northern Germany, on January 30, 2013. Bahlsen appealed to the extortionists to return the stolen cookie logo. A letter which was sent to a newspaper by the alleged thieves of the logo of the Bahlsen biscuit company by Sesame Street character 'Cookie Monster' claimed responsibility for the theft demanding the company to deliver free cookies to children's hospitals in order to get the trademark sign back. Police, who initially were checking on whether the letter was a hoax, are now investigating a case of attempted blackmail.
