LITHUANIA-FBL-RUSSIA-WC-2018-SECURITY
Lithuanian special forces take part in an exercice focused on securing the European Union's external border ahead of the World Cup football matches to be held in Kaliningrad enclave on May 23, 2018 at railway station of the Lithuanian village of Kena, a border crossing point with Belarus. - Thousands of Russian football fans are expected to cross the Baltic state to reach World Cup matches in the neighbouring Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. Sandwiched between Poland, Lithuania and the Baltic Sea, Kaliningrad will host four matches next month, starting with a game between Croatia and Nigeria on June 16. Lithuanian special forces simulate the detention of aggressive football fans travelling by train without documents required to cross the Baltic EU state.
