Tutsi Refugee Camp in Burundi

Refugees walk among the tents in a refugee camp for Tutsis near Kirundo in northern Burundi. The camp was created for refugees entering the country from Rwanda due to the inter-ethnic civil war. In April 1994, civil conflict broke out in Rwanda between Hutus and Tutsis, the two major ethnic groups in Burundi and Zaire, leading to widespread genocide in Rwanda. During the war, approximately 63,000 refugees (mainly Tutsi) poured into northern Burundi. | Location: Near Kirundo, Burundi. (Photo by © Patrick Robert/Sygma/CORBIS/Sygma via Getty Images)
