Protestors Gather Near Beirut's Parliament Square Ahead Of Expected Nomination For New Prime Minister

BEIRUT, LEBANON - DECEMBER 15: Riot police used tear gas and water cannon to disperse anti-government protesters as they clashed for the second day in a row near the Parliament building on Sunday 15 December 2019 in Downtown Beirut, Lebanon. The clashes came ahead of an expected nomination Monday for previous Prime Minister Saad Hariri to resume his post with protesters rejecting this move. Since October 17th protests have been held across the country against a corrupt ruling class, a sectarian political system and poor living conditions. Saad Hariri resigned as prime minister on Oct. 29, creating a governmental vacuum. (Photo by Sam Tarling/Getty Images)
