Preparing for the operation

PA Scott Strain prepares more surgical instruments needed to perform the amputation of a Afghan civilans foot. The man's story was that he had been kidnapped by the Taliban for three months. During that time he didn't have access to his diabetic medicine. Gangrene set in after a injury to his foot leading to the necessity for it to be amputated. The operation took place in the hospital of the 758 Forward Surgical Team hospital. The FST hospital is located on FOB Orgun-E in eastern Afghanistan.
