Desert View Point Watchtower

The Grand Canyon and Mary Colter's designed Watchtower are seen from the South Rim in Grand Canyon Village, Arizona, United States at the Desert View Point on July 14, 2018. Architect Mary Colter designed the Watchtower to encompass the structure to blend and become part of the environment, predominantly she did so by not cutting any of the rocks so they would maintain their original features. The Puebloan people of the Colorado Plateau influenced her creativity and served as a model. Inside the Watchtower are stories imbedded in paintings which some depict the physical and spiritual origins of Hopi life. (Photo by Patrick Gorski/NurPhoto via Getty Images)
