Thousands of people gather in Tel Aviv's Rabin Square to listen to live music on April 22, 2010 as part of a worldwide "Earth Day" campaign. At 10-minute intervals starting at 8 pm (1700 GMT), 13 cities across Israel were plunged into darkness for an hour, among them Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa and Eilat in support of the campaign to boost environmental awareness worldwide. The national electricity company estimated that the blackout resulted in Israelis saving around 2 percent of their average daily electricity consumption.
