CUBA-HARLEY DAVIDSON

A couple and their daughter ride a 1939 45 Twin-WLD Harley-Davidson along Luyano neighbourhood in Havana,19 June 2005. Though Cuban customs laws prohibit their exportation, foreigners who highly covet these classics can pay between 5,000 and 15,000 US dollars for each of the twenty English motorbikes - Triumph, Norton and Ariel, and the more than a hundred US Harley-Davidsons that ride through the island's streets. These Harley-Davidsons arrived in the country between 1925 and 1960, year in which the last US lot was sent for the police mobile units. Due to the US 44-year embargo to Cuba, mechanics have been adapting parts of cars from the former Soviet Union, to counteract the lack of original Harley-Davidson pieces.
