Farmhouse Scenics in Winter in Ohio - stock photo

Old farm in winter. This is not just any farmhouse. This house was once the home of the abolitionist John Brown from 1818 to 1826, before he moved to Pennsylvania. Originally, the John Brown family lived in a log cabin on the tannery site. This home was built on the grounds of the tannery John Brown ran in Hudson, Ohio. The house was built in 1824 with four rooms downstairs and four rooms up, it was originally 28 square foot base. John Brown Jr. recalled that as a child, he observed his father and mother aiding fugitive slaves here.
