Kayenta, ARIZONA - NOVEMBER 05: Native Riders for 'Ride to the Polls' organized by Protect the Sacred, a nonpartisan organization looking to harness the power of the Native Vote, ride by horseback to a polling station on the Navajo Reservation on November 5, 2024 in Kayenta, Arizona. Protect the Sacred organizes this event as an ode to their ancestors who rode for hours to cast their votes. The organization educates and empowers the next generation of Native leaders to strengthen Indigenous sovereignty. 2024 is the 100th year anniversary of Native Americans right to vote, yet there are still so many barriers to voting including the lack of a mailing address, non-tribal ID, extreme distances to the polls, and language barriers.
