In the 1830s, the construction of Britain's main railways began, and many commercial prints depicting the new lines, bridges and viaducts became available to the public. In 1839, Bourne published a collection of 30 prints in book form entitled 'The London and Birmingham Railroad', illustrating Robert Stephenson's newly built railway, which opened in 1837-1838.
