Iraqi woman adopts abused stray animals in capital Baghdad

BAGHDAD, IRAQ - DECEMBER 01: An Iraqi woman has devoted herself to the care of stray animals that have been subjected to violence. Um Abbudi, living in Iraqi capital Baghdad, turned the land she rented with her own means into a warm shelter for stray animals exposed to violence. The charitable woman takes care of 14 stray dogs and over 70 cats on the 500 square meter land. Stating that she loved animals since I was young, Abbudi said "At that time, I always had local cats and dogs because there was no import of cats and dogs from abroad. There was also no violence against animals at that time and the environment was safer for them." "When I see a sick or abused animal in the street, I immediately bring it here and start caring for it," she said Abbudi added that “Animal lovers do not prefer animals with a broken leg or injured in their homes.
