Ignatius walked above this bridge in 1522 when he arrived to Manresa. The bridge has been already build in the roman period, after it got destroyed several times in the 12. century, the bridge got rebuild in in the gothic style and reconstructed between 1960 and 1962. The neoclassical building got build on the cave where Saint Ignatius of Loyola shut himself to pray from March 1522 to February 1523. In this time he wrote his spirituell exercises after returning from his pilgrimage to Montserrat.
