Harbor Seals Await Spring Attract Tourists

HOKKAIDO, JAPAN – FEB. 22: Harbor seals are spending the reminder of the winter in northern Hokkaido coasts before they head back north -- to Russian seas -- at the coming of spring in early April. During the winter time, the seals come down south towards Wakkanai, the city located at the northern tip of Hokkaido, aboard floating ices. The seals eat lots of locally rich flatfish and octopus and therefore they are enemies of fishermen, but the animals are popular attraction for tourists and photographers.
