HOKKAIDO, JAPAN – FEB. 13: Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido) held its first test run for the general public on Saturday February 13, of the round trip between Shin-Hakodate Hokuto Station and Kikonai Station(approximately 35.5 km) on its Hokkaido Shinkansen Line - scheduled to open operations on March 26. 28,302 passengers applied for the opportunity to ride on the test run - a number that amounts to 9 times normal capacity - out of which 3,000 were selected via lottery.
