Jigokudani Monkeys in Nagano, Japan - stock video

Close-up shot of the face of a Japanese macaque in Jigokudani Monkey Park. Deep in the mountains of Nagano Prefecture, located virtually in the center of Honshu Island, there are hot springs where wild Japanese macaques come to soak. At an altitude of 850 m, the area is blanketed in snow for almost one-third of the year. Because of its steep cliffs and steam rising from the hot springs everywhere, the area is known as Jigokudani (“Hell Valley”). The hot springs provide an opportunity to see in recent years wild Japanese macaques up close, and so in recent years Jigokudani Monkey Park has been visited by many tourists from overseas.
