Description: In a studio x-talk with Curry, NBC News chief medical editor, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, says she is a big proponent of immunizations, says immunization is the greatest scientific breakthrough and millions of people in the U.S. and around the world have been saved, says immunizations matter, that vaccines have been created to fight diseases that could kill people, says a simple shot could prevent these diseases. Snyderman (answering viewer e-mail) says once a baby is born it is colonized by trillions of bacteria and viruses, that it begins building antibodies to the bacteria and viruses out there, says there are a multitude of shots a baby will receive when he is two months old because there are more diseases that are preventable, says the medicines in the vials is a small amount and that it mostly contain water as a delivery mechanism, says she doesn't like vaccines being spread out, that it's hard to track of stuff, that it's easy to let the shots fall through the cracks of the system, says there's no scientific proof that spacing them out is better. Snyderman (answering Darci's question) says HVP is a vaccine given to girls preteen and up to the 20s, says it is safe to give both girls and boys, that it reduces the likelihood of acquiring genital warts. Snyderman (answering Samantha's question) says now is the time to get your flu shot, meningitis vaccine, HVP and tetanus vaccine.
