Catherine reads from book. In interview, Debbie says that the more a brain is used the more it will grow. Debbie teaches Catherine geometry lessons. Debbie says she decided to teach her child to read after reading a book on the subject. Catherine reads from a book. Catherine does a crossword puzzle with her mother. Debbie holds up a card with writing teaching Catherine French. During her lesson, Catherine writes out a geometric equation. Debbie holds up a flash card pictures of animals with two-year-old daughter Virginia Phillips (ph). Debbie says her two-year-old daughter will go to the library and pick out things and her four-year-old daughter will tell her things she is interested in and the more they see the more interested they become. Debbie says that it is all about joy. Shot of Virginia smiling seen. In interview, Better Baby Institute's Glenn Doman says a baby would rather learn than eat or anything else in the world. Doman walks outdoors in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Doman says you can teach a baby absolutely anything that can be presented in an honest and factual way. In interview, psychiatrist Dr. Kyle Pruitt (ph) says that he is concerned that the preoccupation with intellectual development comes at the expense of the development of a full person. Pruitt works with children in at Yale University Child Study Center holding out toys for children to touch. Pruitt says that there is tremendous parental pressure on most day care centers to include academics. Shots of preschool teachers watching and playing with children at the Phylis Bodell Child Care Center (ph) at the Yale University of Medicine seen. Shots of children drawing on chalkboards, working with art supplies, and playing with blocks, dolls and toys seen. Pruitt says that though it may not look like a cirriculum driven setting there is an enormous amount of learning going on. A boy plays with a toy truck full of blocks. A girl plays with plastic clips. Pruitt says to lead the child and enhance what interests them. Adults sit in circle with children at pre-school leading them in a song. Pruitt says that it is hard for parents to stop because they thinks their kids are being lazy.
