HYOGO, JAPAN - NOV. 2: The launching ceremony of the Maritime Self Defense Force's latest cutting-edge submarine, the "Sekiryu," was held at the Kawasaki Heavy Industries factory in Kobe city on November 2 . The vessel's name refers to a sacred dragon that protects the South in Japanese mythology. The submarine will be handed over to the Ministry of Defense in March, 2017, but it has yet to be confirmed where it will be deployed. The submarine, which is a 84 meters in length and can reach a speed of 20 knots, cost around 559 hundred million yen to build.
