HOKKAIDO, JAPAN - FEB. 5: The Sapporo Snow Festival, an event synonymous with winter in Hokkaido, opened at three venues around Sapporo on February 5. The festival marks the 67th in this year, 208 snow and ice sculptures are on display—including a massive snow sculpture of the Hokkaido Shinkansen, which is scheduled to start service on March 26. More than 2 million visitors from both Japan and abroad are expected by the time the festival ends on February 11.
