Chunks of Oud or Agarwood lie in a sack
Chunks of Oud or Agarwood lie in a sack at a shop in Riyadh, 10 October 2007. Oud, also known by the names Agrawood and Aloeswood, is the resinous aromatic heartwood of the Aquilaria tree, native to southeast Asia, that is highly valued for its pleasing fragrance and thus used as incense. Oud is one of the products that Saudi Muslims traditionally stock-up on in preparation for the Eid al-Fitr festivities that mark the end of Ramadan.
