Quirky and Offbeat Japan

TOKYO, JAPAN - 2004/12/01: Fashionistas called "Takenokozuko" who converge on the Harajuku area of Tokyo every Sunday. Some cosplay girls have more sense of style and fashion than the usual Goths, French maids and cartoon characters. Some, such as the attractive girl with the bow-like hat, may be an off duty model or have pretensions of becoming one. The cosplay girls come to show off their rags, er, clothes in Harajuku, which house the headquarters to many Japanese fashion designers, as well as top French and Italian ones, and where many models live and hang out. That being said, the majority of cosplay kids are there just to have fun, dress up as their favorite cartoon character or whatever takes their fancy that Sunday. . (Photo by John S.
