Dubrovnik Tourism Booms as 'Game of Thrones' Ending Approaches
DUBROVNIK, CROATIA - APRIL 29: Fort Lovrijenac is seen on April 29, 2019 in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Seen by residents as a blessing and a curse, tourism has increased exponentially after several key scenes for the popular HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’ were shot in the Adriatic Sea town, known as King’s Landing in the television program. As a result, the city has limited both the amount of cruise ships allowed to dock and unload its tourists there, as well as the number of visitors allowed in certain parts of its Old Town at one time. The show ends its final season in May 2019, with locals relieved while simultaneously concerned over how that will affect the local economy. (Photo by Adam Berry/Getty Images)
