View of Mars from Distant
(Original Caption) San Francisco: Mars Curtain Lifted By New Light Photos Taken at Lick Observatory. The atmosphere around the earth and probably that surrounding Mars is atmosphere exists on that planet, has been conquered by the camera's all seeing eye, through use of the new infrared light, is proved by the series of photographs made recently from the Lick Observatory on Mt. Hamilton. Dr. W. H. Wright of the Observatory has been making numerous experiments with new photographic plates and using various color schemes. Tests made prove that the new infrared light has the power to pierce through the atmosphere to a great depth while the ordinary violet light allows but for a few miles. Photo shows Mars as it appeared when photographed with the ordinary violet rays.
