Anniversary of the 'Huayllani Massacre' in Bolivia

In 2019, during the government of former President Jeanine Anez, farmers and coca growers were attempting to enter the city, marching from the municipality of Sacaba, about 10 kilometers from the city of Cochabamba. They encountered police and military forces as they tried to cross the Huayllani bridge. The police began searching them, checking backpacks and pockets, and finding explosives and other contraband. The police began arresting some people, and the marchers defended themselves with explosives, stones, sticks, and anything else they could find.
