Construction "Boot camp" for people to train and find jobs in the industry.

DENVER, CO - JUNE 21: Students Andrew Parker, left, and Rafelina Garibay, right, learn how to make concrete forms during the Construction Careers Now! program at the Central 70 Neighborhood Training Center on June 21, 2018 in Denver, Colorado. Big city and state projects are increasingly incorporating local-hiring requirements or at least recruiting goals to help ensure local communities benefit from the construction jobs brought by the projects. At the same time, the construction industry is facing a worker shortage in coming years, in part because of those big public projects that are kicking off, including Denver's National Western Center, Colorado Convention Center expansion and DIA projects. 30,000 are expected to be available in the construction industry in Colorado in the next five years. The industry has supported free worker-training programs to help fill the gaps and is also taking part in contracts that set local-hiring constraints to boost recruitment in targeted areas. The Colorado Department of Transportation opened the Central 70 Neighborhood Training Center in summer 2017. The program is a four-week introductory "bootcamp" taught by the Emily Griffith Opportunity School and supported by the Associated General Contractors of Colorado and other industry groups including Associated General Contractors of Colorado, Colorado Contractors Association, and The Hispanic Contractors of Colorado. The program is funded by Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. The classes are free for students and meet four times a week for 3 hours a day. (Photo by Helen H.
