British Museum Presents Legion: Life In The Roman Army Exhibition
LONDON, ENGLAND - JANUARY 26: The only complete surviving legionary long shield is seen on display ahead of the "Legion life in the Roman army" exhibition soon to open at the British Museum, on January 26, 2024 in London, England. The show explores the daily lives of the men, women and children who worked within the Roman Empire. The imperial Roman army acted as a military, naval and police force to around a quarter of the Earth's population, protecting the superpower for over half a millennium. Among the more than 200 objects going on display are the world's only intact legionary shield and a suit of armour dug up five years ago from a battle site in Germany.
