This 16 August, 2001 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) satellite image shows heat signatures (red) and smoke (light blue haze) from wildfires burning Oregon in the Northwestern US. The largest concentration of wildfires are currently burning near Monument, OR (R). 11 different fires in Oregon have burned more than 270,000 acres (109,265 hectares).
