BERLIN, GERMANY: A visitor looks at a board displaying portrait pictures of the members of the resistance planning the 20 July 1944 assassination attempt against Hitler, shown in an exposition at the "Gedenkstaette Deutscher Widerstand" (memorial place of German resistance" in Berlin, 19 July 2004, down right is seen Count Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg. The July 20 Plot having its 60th anniversary on these days was a failed coup d'etat initiated by officers of the Wehrmacht. Leader of the plot was von Stauffenberg who planted a bomb during a staff meeting with Hitler. Though the bomb went off, Adolf Hitler was not killed. Von Stauffenberg escaped the blast but was captured and executed the same day. The assassination attempt of 20 July 1944 marked the end of many years of efforts by top administrative officials and members of the military to change the course of the war from the centre of power by putting an end to Hitler's leadership.
