The Calima (also Kalima) is a weather condition with easterly winds on the Canary Islands, which can be described as a strong wind filling the air with fine sand and dust particles from the Sahara. The Spanish name Bruma seca (“dry fog”) is sometimes used. Here the sun is almost obscured by the sand particles.
