Proxima b planet, animation - 4K stock video

Animation of an Earth-like planet and small moon around the red dwarf star Proxima Centauri. The planet, called Proxima b, was detected in 2016. Its mass is between 1.2-3 times that of Earth. It orbits the star every 11 days at a distance of 7.5 million kilometres, one-twentieth of the Earth-Sun distance. This places it in the habitable zone of the faint star, where temperatures would allow liquid water to exist on the surface. Whether the planet is habitable has not been determined. Proxima Centauri is the closest star to the Sun, some 4.2 light years away
